Background of the Study
Real-time tracking systems enable companies to monitor the location, condition, and movement of goods throughout the supply chain. This technology plays a critical role in delivery logistics, as it allows businesses to provide accurate delivery times, optimize routes, and respond quickly to any logistical challenges that arise. Nestlé Nigeria, one of the leading food and beverage manufacturers in Nigeria, uses real-time tracking systems in its delivery logistics operations in Kano State to improve delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction (Adamu & Usman, 2024).
In Kano State, where Nestlé has significant distribution activities, real-time tracking systems help ensure that products reach customers on time and in optimal condition. These systems offer transparency in the delivery process, enabling both Nestlé and its customers to track the progress of shipments, minimize delays, and identify potential bottlenecks in the supply chain. Additionally, real-time tracking systems contribute to inventory control by providing updates on stock levels and shipment statuses, which can lead to more accurate demand forecasting and better overall supply chain management (Akinyele & Umar, 2023). This study aims to examine how real-time tracking systems are implemented in Nestlé Nigeria’s delivery logistics operations in Kano State and their impact on supply chain efficiency.

The lack of real-time information about deliveries in traditional logistics systems often leads to inefficiencies, stockouts, and delayed shipments. Nestlé Nigeria in Kano State, while utilizing real-time tracking systems, faces challenges such as connectivity issues, system integration with other supply chain components, and maintaining real-time data accuracy. This study will explore how real-time tracking systems can be optimized to improve delivery logistics and ensure seamless operations.
